How to Support Savong's School
  • Regular support is easy and best.
  • We have set up a Trust Account to safeguard the money.
  • Money goes straight to the school.
  • There are no admin, marketing or middleman costs.

There's a piece of advice that says if you want to help somebody in your own country, give time. If you want to help somebody in another country, then give money. One of the delights about supporting the school is that you see exactly where the cash goes. There's no “fund-raising overhead,” no marketing budget, no middle people doing admin.

The one thing we point out is that we have not registered this as a charity – which is a process that might save us some tax, but would add all those administrative commitments that we don't want. So the money we send to Cambodia is not eligible for a tax rebate. What we may lose to the tax man we make up for by not having admin costs. For a small project-based charity this is the more efficient way to work.

We have set up a Trust Account however, and all donations and support can be sent via this account. Money that goes to the Trust Account is channelled directly to the School, either to meet the ongoing running costs or to provide for specific capital items.

The best way to support the school is through regular, monthly donations via auto-payments from your account. Of course the School will also gratefully receive one-off donations.
